Course Description
This one-semester course is for first year students of departments of Engineering and Sciences. It deals with atoms and molecules, periodic table, electronic structure, chemical bondings, chemical reactions, electrochemistry and organic chemistry.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Understand the relationship of electron configuration with chemical properties & use periodic table to solve problems.
CILO-2: Understand the fundamental concepts of the structure of an atom.
CILO-3: Recognize the different bonding types and their application in organic chemistry.
CILO-4: Recognize different states of matters, i.e. gas, liquid, & solids.
CILO-5: Understand the concepts of chemical rates and equilibrium, and their applications, e.g. in pH, electrochemistry.
CILO-6: Learn basic concepts in organic chemistry.
CILO-7: Learn and practiced safe operation in laboratory.
CILO-8: Learn about the concepts of using scare resources to make useful products.
