Course Description
The objective of the course is to strengthen students’ abilities in sociological research. This course teaches students advanced research methodologies as well as data management and analysis skills. These may include advanced statistical methods and recent developments in research design in the quantitative tradition, and/or qualitative approaches in the interpretive and critical traditions. Whichever topics are emphasized depends on the needs of the students.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Identify the qualitative/quantitative research methods commonly used in sociology/criminology.
CILO-2: Critically assess the strengths and weaknesses of the qualitative/quantitative research methods.
CILO-3: Apply the qualitative/quantitative research methods sociological/criminological research.
