Course Description
The course focuses on issues related to professional development and ethical practice, particularly as they apply to the practice of clinical psychology. The professional development component underscores the importance of self-care and post-qualification learning throughout one’s career to maintain competence. Ethical issues with regard to case reports, legal procedures, and mental health care in a gambling and addiction dominated society, etc. will be discussed in seminar format in order to develop candidates’ ethical acculturation in the field of psychology.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Describe contemporary ethical and professional conduct issues facing clinical psychologists.
CILO-2: Identify appropriate guidelines for evaluating and resolving ethical dilemmas and decision making.

CILO-4: Describe and develop awareness and competence in managing the multiplicity of roles, responsibilities, and involvements of clinical psychologists.
CILO-5: Describe strategies through which clinical psychology can contribute to matters of social policy.
CILO-6: Observe and reflect upon their own backgrounds, psychological states, biases, attitudes, values, and beliefs as influences on the capacity to maintain high levels of professional and ethical conduct.
