Course Description
This course provides an introduction to research and theories in social cognition. The course will examine how people reason and make sense of the social world. Specifically, topics examined in the course include the dual processing model, social perception and impression formation, mental representation and memory, the self, attribution, heuristics, attitudes and persuasion, stereotyping, etc.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Interpret empirical findings in accordance with theories in social cognition, propose research ideas and design studies to address questions in social cognition.
CILO-2: Link topics of social cognition to real-world social issues and link social cognition findings to everyday issues (e.g., learning and education, organizational management, well-being, and political attitudes).
CILO-3: Utilize simple research methods to tackle social cognition topics. They should be able to conduct studies, collect and analyse data, and report their findings using a social cognitive approach.
