A course covering the analytic linguistic description of the following key areas of Portuguese: morphology and lexicon and phonetics-phonology, with special application to the acquisition and teaching of Portuguese as a Foreign Language. Students will be introduced to data collection purposes and procedures.

CILO-1: Identify different linguistic research methods. CILO-2: Summarize linguistic research by introspection and identify linguistic corpus research. CILO-3: Identify quantitative and qualitative methodologies. CILO-4: Discuss differences between first and second language acquisition and how to deal with them while doing research.
