The course is designed to develop comprehension of real-life audio and video texts in different varieties of Portuguese, focusing on areas of current affairs, diplomacy, legal language, and business. Students will interact about the content of audio and video texts.

CILO-1: Interpret and identify general and specific information on oral texts. CILO-2: Produce oral texts on given topics. CILO-3: Produce a clear and well-structured discourse on topics of general interest. CILO-4: Plan communication strategies according to different linguistic situations (e.g. formal / informal; criticism; appraisal; argumentation; description etc.). CILO-5: Identify traits of the Portuguese language and culture of the Portuguese-speaking communities.
