Course Description
This course aims to help students develop skills for understanding representative texts of the literature of the Portuguese-speaking world, including short stories and plays. It is designed to help students learn foundational skills in literacy, critical reading, and writing. Students will be introduced to the basic terminology and analytical methods and write short essays in response to the readings.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Identify and define basic literary concepts.
CILO-2: Demonstrate basic knowledge of the aesthetic and socio-historical context of the poems, short stories and novels studied.
CILO-3: Apply literary concepts to the analysis of poems, novels and short stories of selected authors from Portuguese-speaking countries.
CILO-4: Produce short critical essays and creative texts about topics discussed in class.
