Course Description
This course presents students with a selection of the main ideas and themes that have shaped Western philosophy from its origins in Ancient Greece up to the nineteenth century.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Identify the fundamental categories of philosophical thought, as well as the diversity of traditions and forms of critical inquiry, within Western philosophy.
CILO-2: Understand the metaphysical, moral, and political values that have shaped Western culture and society.
CILO-3: Employ philosophical analysis and reasoning to think about ideas from different historical contexts.
CILO-4: Appreciate the ways in which historical factors may drive and direct the formation of philosophical ideas.
