Course Description
This course provides an overview of the business landscape in major Asian countries, highlighting both similarities and differences across countries. Students will explore unique organizational structures in Asian countries, such as chaebol in Korea, keiretsu in Japan, and family businesses in China. The course will also provide a conceptual framework that emphasizes the impact of cross-country institutional and cultural settings on business practices in Asia.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Describe and summarize the unique environment for international business in an Asia-Pacific context, and compare major Asian countries in the aspects of culture, institutions, politics and economy.
CILO-2: Work in teams and discuss actual examples of Asian business and management, and identify business problems in case studies, using the analytic methods learned from this course.
CILO-3: Formulate solutions to solve business problems in Asian Business, and collect statistics and facts to argue the proposed solutions and defend the statements.
