Course Description
Delve into the constitutional cornerstone of Macao's legal system. This course comprehensively examines the Macao Basic Law, exploring its historical significance, constitutional principles, and the impact on legal practice. Students will gain a nuanced understanding of the unique legal framework governing the Macao Special Administrative Region, preparing them for the complexities of legal practice in this dynamic jurisdiction.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Students will be able to conceptualize, analyze, and articulate principles, concepts, and norms related to the Basic Law of Macao.
CILO-2: Students will be able to discuss and explain the structures and underlying principles of the Chinese constitution, and the constitutional basis of Macao SAR.
CILO-3: Students will be able to differentiate various systems of the Macao SAR, including the political system, administration, legislation, and judicial systems, as well as elucidate the relationship between the central government and the Macao SAR.
CILO-4: Students will be able to contextualize the historical background, fundamental purpose, and core essence of the policy of "One Country, Two Systems", and analyze objectively and critically relevant cases and disputes arising from the practice of "one country, two systems" in Hong Kong and Macao.
