Course Description
This subject consists of three parts:
1) Discussion on bilingualism in law: staring from the historical development of legal bilingualism in Macao, examine briefly other systems of legal bilingualism and discuss main issues of legal bilingualism.
2) Translation and bilingual drafting: examine major issues and solutions.
3) Various practical issues in legal translation and bilingual law drafting.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Students will be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of the theories, historical development of Macau bilingual law drafting and legal translation.
CILO-2: Students will be able to recognize the legislative system under the Basic Law of Macao SAR of People's Republic of China.
CILO-3: Students will be able to develop bilingual law drafting methods and skills, and to learn the methods of legal translation.
CILO-4: Students will be able to get familiarity with bilingual law drafting and legal translation and a capacity to make effective use of them.
