With the fast development of information technology and biotechnology, legal and ethical discussion on science and technology is highly appreciated. This course aims to explore how science and technology affect law and how to use laws and regulations to manage and promote the sound development of science and technology. The legal norms on science and technology, as well as the legal issues associated with the research and application of emerging science and technology will be introduced and discussed in class. Meanwhile, the course will explore software and digital tools that are used for carrying out legal research and services.

CILO-1: Students will be able to provide an outline of the current landscape of the latest scientific advances. CILO-2: Students will be able to describe and provide explanations for the relevant legislation and policies about science and technology research and development. CILO-3: Students will be able to elaborate on and analyse the current situation and future trends of the relationships between law, science, and technology. CILO-4: Students will be able to assess the legal risks associated with the commercialization of emerging science and technology. CILO-5: Students will be able to identify the subject of liability and solve the legal disputes concerning science and technology research and development. CILO-6: Students will be able to utilize software and tools for conducting searches of rules and cases.
