Course Description
This course is designed to help students understand the social development issues regarding Macao, China and other societies. The core social science theories and concepts discussed will be the following:
1. Social stratification: How is society structured in Macau compared to China and the rest of the world?
2. Social interaction. How do people interact socially, culturally, politically, and economically, to create and shape social worlds and human experience?
3. Continuity and change. How do societies succedd or fail in reproducing themselves in successive gnerations?
Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, the students will be able to
1. Read academic writings in Japanese on the above subjects;
2. Analyze and develop complex ideas and concepts pertaining to Japanese culture; and
3. To express their understanding of Japanese culture in the form of oral presentation in Japanese language; and
4. Build up a large vocabulary by reading writing such as newspapers, magazines and other reference book.
