Course Description
This course introduces basic translation and interpretation skills on translating and interpreting Japanese into Chinese. Based on analyses of the syntactic and lexical similarities and differences between the two languages, students will practise multiple skills in this course. The objective of this course is to develop students’ ability of translating literary works in various genres by employing the techniques learned, while improving the ability of interpretation.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the role and contribution of translation and interpretation to the society.
CILO-2: Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the types of difficulties encountered when translating and interpreting aimed to the general public.
CILO-3: Students will be able to translate and interpret different styles of articles from Japanese into Chinese with proper nuance accordingly.
