Course Description
This course provides training in the comprehension and the use of conversational Japanese by emphasizing oral communication skills. Students will be provided different tasks focused on practical daily conversational communication in order to help build confidence in speaking Japanese. At the end of this course, students can acquire basic communication skills for everyday situations and campus life.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Students will be able to identify some of the characteristics of spoken Japanese, such as aizuchi (back channel expressions) etc. and apply them appropriately in conversation.
CILO-2: Students will be able to select the appropriate speech style such as plain style and polite style according to the situation.
CILO-3: Students will be able to perform basic communicative tasks in daily life by using learned structures and vocabulary.
CILO-4: Students will be able to perform basic communicative tasks in daily life in culturally appropriate manner.
