Course Description
This course is designed for students who are majoring in Japanese language and have little or no knowledge of the Japanese language. It focuses on learning foundational grammar for simple sentence building. The objective of this course is to develop reading and writing skills for functional literacy at the elementary level.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Students will be able to read and write hiragana and katakana.
CILO-2: Students will be able to read and write approximately 200 kanji characters.
CILO-3: Students will be able to use approximately 1000 Japanese words and phrases.
CILO-4: Students will be able to identify typical expressions and sentences written in hiragana, katakana, and basic kanji.
CILO-5: Students will be able to create simple sentences with appropriate sentence structures and particles.
