Course Description
This course aims to develop Japanese language ability in daily conversation, reading and writing. At the same time, it also introduces Japanese Studies, including basic cultural ideas that are needed in the acquisition of the language. At the end of this course, students will be able to acquire very basic conversation skills of Japanese.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Students will be able to read and write hiragana and katakana.
CILO-2: Students will be able to use approximately 1000 Japanese words and phrases.
CILO-3: Students will be able to identify key words and do task listening exercises on familiar topics presented by inauthentic materials on CD.
CILO-4: Students will be able to communicate with classmates and the teacher in daily situations using learned expressions and vocabulary, such as self introduction, saying time, inviting people to do something together, going shopping, etc.
CILO-5: Students will be able to write short sentences using learned vocabulary and structures on simple topics.
