The purpose of this course is to enhance students’ skills in using spreadsheets to aid decision making. Spreadsheets are among the most widely used decision support tools in business today. They contain many useful analytical tools. Students will be taught in greater detail the usage of these tools. They will design macros to automate spreadsheet applications and learn about the common errors committed by spreadsheet users. Besides usage of the software, students will also be taught how to analyse managerial problems. The analyses will focus on the modelling aspects and will make use of spreadsheets to develop solutions to the problems.

1. Be able to identify the essential conceptual structure of a decision problems; 2. Be able to discuss the basic workflows of business decision modeling; 3. Recognize the types of modeling tools most adapted to specific decision problems; 4. Know how to assess the effectiveness of model outputs for managerial insights and action.
