Course Description
This course provides a survey of the quantitative techniques that are used by modern managers. Topic coverage will focus on model building, linear programming methods, network models, and regression models. Emphasis is placed on the use and limits of these quantitative methods. Model analysis will be done using EXCEL and related Add-ins.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Formulate mathematical models to make decisions in business problems.
CILO-2: Implement a mathematical model on an electronic spreadsheet.
CILO-3: Use the built-in tool Solvers in Excel to solve optimization problems.
CILO-4: Perform sensitivity analysis to answer a number of practical managerial questions that might arise about the solution to an optimization problem.
CILO-5: Recognize the different types of network flow problems in business.
CILO-6: Solve practical business problems in which only integer solutions are feasible.
CILO-7: Solve practical business problems with multiple objectives.
