Course Description
This course introduces students with the newest concepts of Integrated Resort (IR) management. It discusses the inner workings of the hotel, gaming, entertainment and resort industry. Aside from the organizational structure and functions of each department, students will gain an understanding of the interaction and the logistics involved in ensuring the constant and uninterrupted output of services across all functions to ensure complete guest satisfaction within an integrated resort setting. This fundamental understanding of operations and basic managerial responsibilities will provide for a deeper and broader appreciation of the complexities and challenges of managing the daily operations of an IR. After completing this course, students will be able to have a fundamental understanding of the integrated resorts from a local and global perspective. Learning outcomes of communication and logistic skills will also be emphasized in this course
Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Evaluate the knowledge and theories of integrated resort development Students will be able to examine and evaluate the theories and concepts in the context of implementation, management and operations within an integrated resorts setting.
2. Analyze the structure, products, services, and interactions in tourism and hospitality Students will be able to analyze the relationship between consumers, suppliers, practitioners, and policy makers of hospitality and tourism services/products within an integrated setting.
3. Implement the role of hospitality and tourism in communities and environments that they affect Students will be able to evaluate the contributions and impacts of integrated resort development in social, economic, political, cultural, and other areas.
4. Evaluate and implement appropriate IR development theories and concepts Students will be able to analyze and apply various hospitality and tourism theories and concepts to IR development and to its practical application in the hospitality and tourism industry.
5. Communicate and respond to the diversity that prevails within the hospitality and tourism industry Students will be able to communicate and respond appropriately to stakeholders in the hospitality and tourism industry on issues related to IR development and management.
6. Evaluate issues and apply professional skills and management knowledge to complex and unstructured problems in hospitality and tourism. Students will be able to identify IR development and management problems within the hospitality and tourism context, and apply management knowledge and skills to solve the problems. Students will also be able to organize and analyze related numerical and graphical data, and translate them into business information.
