Course Description
The objective of this course is to acquaint students with the basic structure of hospitality industry and integrated resorts. Topics to be covered include the history and the recent progress of the hospitality industry, principles of restaurant operations and food services, hotel and lodging operations, transportation, etc. In addition, principles of leadership and hospitality management will be discussed. After completing this course, students will possess a solid foundation to further their studies in particular subjects of hospitality management.
Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to describe the basic compositions of hospitality industry; to differentiate service industry versus manufacturing industry; to describe the basic compositions of travel industry; to understand the operations and compositions of integrated resorts; to illustrate how hotels, food & beverages and meestings can be categorized; to describe the administrative departments in integrated resorts; to explain the operation departments in integrated resorts.
