The course covers basic concepts, knowledge and methods in toxicology, including the disposition of toxic substances by the body, how toxic substances react with biomolecules and lead to target organ toxicity / non-organ directed toxicity, knowledge about toxic substances, as well as applications of toxicology including environmental, occupational, regulatory, food toxicology, and natural toxins.

CILO-1: Explain essential toxicological concepts. CILO-2: Explain the science underlying major toxicological testing methods. CILO-3: Describe the principles of risk assessment, diagnosis and treatment for drug toxicity. CILO-4: Describe how toxicants are absorbed, distributed, biotransformed and excreted in the body. CILO-5: Interpret the mechanisms underlying non-organ directed and target organ toxicity. CILO-6: Explain the chemical properties and biological effects of toxic agents. CILO-7: Discuss the applications of toxicological principles and knowledge in relevant fields.
