Course Description
We all live today in a global context, where we frequently engage and interact with people from diverse cultural, national, ethnic, and racial backgrounds. Living and working successfully in this global context requires an ability to understand and appreciate cultural diversity. By drawing insights from the fields of Communication, Psychology, Sociology, and Anthropology, this course will help students better understand the diverse values, beliefs, and behaviors of people from a variety of cultural backgrounds. This knowledge will facilitate students’ ability to interact and communicate effectively with people from those cultural groups.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Enhance awareness and commitment towards servant and grateful leadership.
CILO-2: Anticipate potential misunderstandings which may arise from interactions among cultures which exhibit those different characteristics.
CILO-3: Adapt their interaction styles in order to properly address those differences.
CILO-4: Communicate in effective ways with people from a variety of different cultural backgrounds.
