Course Description
This course aims to provide a basic understanding of social and economic history of China from early times to the present. Topics include (but not confined with) social institutions such as clan, lineage, huiguan, and etc, trade, money, banking, imperial economic policies, and so on.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Present a narrative of Chinese Socio-Economic History.
CILO-2: Demonstrate broad knowledge of major socio-economic aspects, industries, developments and problems over the long period of more than 2,000 years.
CILO-3: Criticize major frameworks, paradigms, and schools that have shaped the field.
CILO-4: Identify primary sources and conduct appropriate researches in the field.
CILO-5: Acquire basic reading and writing skills in Chinese Socio-Economic history.
