This course introduces the theoretical models and conditions for innovation, the systems of innovation at different levels and how these can contribute to the construction of a knowledgedriven economy and an e-society. It also provides the background of the Lisbon Strategy and discusses about the policy instruments in the EU.

by completing this course, the students should be able to acquire knowledge of major theoretical models and conditions for innovation; to understand various systems of innovation and impacts on economic and social development; and to analyze these topics, in relation to the EU context.
