This course, intensive in its nature, introduces students to the basics of academic writing. Aspects of focus include style, structure, grammar and punctuation. The course will also allow learners to explore issues regarding process of writing.

CILO-1: Identify key components of an academic thesis (in a UM context). CILO-2: Discuss stylistic features specific to academic writing, and write with an academic style. CILO-3: Build and keep a working bibliography. CILO-4: Create summaries and paraphrases. CILO-5: Communicate, and explain the importance of academic honesty and work with academic honesty.
