Course Description
The course examines the central issues of global governance today, in particular, with regards issues of international peace and security, global financial and trade regulations, protection of the environment, humanitarian and development assistance, and human rights protection. The role and impact of the major international organizations such as the United Nations, the European Union, etc. will be examined in this context. However, emphasis will also be placed on other international actors, including multi-national corporations, international non-governmental organizations as well as the state governments. The challenges and opportunities that face the international community in the continuing globalization of politics, economy, society, and culture will be addressed. As a major objective, key concepts and theories will be introduced as analytical tools, as well as introduction to essential research design in the field.
