Course Description
This course examines the international interactions between China and Europe. Following a brief historical account of bilateral relations, it focuses on issues of major concern, including economic, security, energy, environment, human rights and cultural aspects. It then introduces China’s relations with major European powers, including the U.K. France, Germany, Eastern European countries, and the EU. The unique role of Hong Kong and Macao in Sino-European relations is also discussed.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Identify the general patterns and trends of contemporary relations between China and Europe (especially the European Union and its member states).
CILO-2: Illustrate the key concepts and theories of international relations, with regard to various aspects of Sino-European relations.
CILO-3: Analyze major cases, policies, and issues of Sino-European relations, with sufficient analytical skills.
CILO-4: Evaluate and argue for possible solutions to cases, policies, and issues of Sino-European relations in the real world.
