Course Description
This course examines the politics of key Asian countries such Japan, South Korea, and India. It will cover countries that, traditionally and presently, have strong connections with Macao, such as Thailand, East Timor, Burma, the Philippines and Indonesia. Main themes to be covered in this course may include: government structure, political culture, corruption and governance, ethnic politics, nationalism, globalization, development strategy, gender politics, social movements and democratization.

CILO-1: Identify different dimensions of Asian politics from multiple perspectives.
CILO-2: Demonstrate interests of specific phenomena and developments about Asian politics.
CILO-3: Recognize the context of political development in contemporary Asia.
CILO-4: Discuss major political events and issues in Asia and formulate suggestions for improvement.
