How should we live? What is a right conduct and a good life? Why do moral values need foundations? The aim of this course is to help students to understand basic moral theories and ideas in philosophy and religion thatshape values of our lives. The course will also provide students with the intellectual resources needed for thinking systematically and critically about some of moral and ethical issues in a contemporary context.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Identify basic moral theories and ethical principles in major philosophical and religious traditions.
CILO-2: Demonstrate an understanding of the structure of rational arguments concerning moral and value judgment.
CILO-3: Apply moral theories or ethical principles to concrete issues in a contemporary context.
CILO-4: Reflect critically on the notion of “good life” that is related to self-analysis and self-understanding.
