Course Description
This course details financial statement analysis and valuation framework that integrates corporate strategies, financial reporting and analysis, and valuation. Fundamental analysis techniques are also examined with particular emphasis on the application of these techniques in equity valuation. This course is designed primarily for students who expect to be frequent users of financial statements or be involved in equity valuation as part of their profession.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Identify qualitative factors and calculate key financial ratios to assess a firm’s operating performance and other financial properties such as liquidity, financial burdens, sustainable growth, and financial constraints.
CILO-2: Describe and identify factors that affect the quality of a firm's financial statements and governance.
CILO-3: Identify and collect data and information about a firm from the Internet and other data sources, and produce forecasts of the firm’s key drivers for valuation by incorporating the data and information collected.
CILO-4: Calculate a firm's intrinsic value with discounted-cash-flow (DCF) method and other valuation methods such as market-based valuation.
CILO-5: Describe and identify ethical issues in financial analysis and investment recommendation.
