This course will provide an understanding of materials design principles, techniques, and issues while also examining the ways in which texts and materials can be used to guide, inform and enhance L2 learning. You are expected to become familiar with materials, sources and professional resources available while evaluating and designing materials for selected L2 learning situations and settings.

CILO-1: Describe materials design principles and techniques. CILO-2: Describe the ways in which texts and materials can be used to support, guide, challenge, inform and enhance L2 language learning. CILO-3: Identify materials, sources and professional resources available.; CILO-4: Investigate materials design processes & issues firsthand and through reading and discussions.; CILO-5: Evaluate and design materials for selected second and foreign language learning situations and settings via individual and group projects.
