Course Description
Asian Diaspora literature involves writing that concerns the global movement of Asian people. This literature records Asian experiences of diaspora while inscribing the cultural, social, and political forces bearing on authors and their communities. Consequently, it is a body of writing that explores issues such as subjectivity, identity, home, alienation, displacement, belonging, community, memory, assimilation, discrimination, etcetera. In this course students will read literary texts in this category, along with relevant criticism and theory to explore a selection of those aforementioned issues. Also, students will develop their own idea about those works, and exercise research, presentation, and writing skills.

CILO-1: Demonstrate knowledge about Asian Diaspora literature and relevant literary criticism.
CILO-2: Plan and execute his or her own research project within the area of Asian Diaspora literature with sufficient engagement with relevant literary criticism.

CILO-4: Identify, gather, and organize information and materials related to the subject matter.
