This course considers the emergence of cinema in the twentieth century and looks at world cinema from various points of view. Students, with the aid of various readings from film theorists, will view and discuss a variety of classic and contemporary feature films.

CILO-1: Manifest a working knowledge of the technical and technological aspects of film and video especially as they relate to film analysis and criticism. CILO-2: Exhibit a working knowledge of film theory and criticism. CILO-3: Effectively apply methods and aesthetics learned to the critical analysis of film. CILO-4: Apply knowledge of the history of cinema. CILO-5: Discuss concepts employed in the creation and analysis of film.
