Course Description
This course is designed to give the student a fuller understanding of the relationships between dramatic literature, performance, and society. This course will combine the academic study of dramatic literature with that of theatre history to demonstrate the inherently social character of drama-in-performance. A selection of plays and excerpts will be read and considered within cultural, social, and theatrical contexts.
