Course Description
This course introduces students to selected major texts that illustrate important themes, concerns, and literary techniques of literature in English during the 20th century. Topics to be covered may include key postwar texts in the Anglo-American tradition, the theatre of the absurd, feminist concerns, postmodernism, and English literature from outside the Anglo-American tradition.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Demonstrate knowledge of literary form and its relationship to relevant contexts in the first five decades of the twentieth century.
CILO-2: Plan and execute the research project within the area of literature in English in the first half of the twentieth century.
CILO-3: Identify, gather, and organize information and materials related to presentations, the course essay, and other writings.
CILO-4: Develop and apply technological skills in online searches and retrieval, bibliographical database management and data entry, and in using presentational software such as PowerPoint and other applications, as appropriate.
CILO-5: Develop and apply skills in citation and documentation consistent with academic work in the field.
