This course will introduce the various aspects including laser physics, types of lasers and laser radiation for material processing, laser hazards & safety, laser optics and beam delivery systems, laser beam interaction with materials. In particular, emphasizing on various laser materials processes such as laser surface engineering, laser cutting, laser welding, laser drilling, laser marking, laser selective sintering.

CILO-1: Apply laser technology to solve the engineering problems in manufacturing. CILO-2: Identify and select different units in a laser system for optimizing the operation conditions of the laser systems. CILO-3: Utilize modern laser processing techniques to achieve different manufacturing tasks.
