Course Description
This course is designed to equip future school counsellors with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in educational settings. Building upon foundational counselling principles, students enrolled in this course will focus on the unique dynamics of school environments. Through experiential learning, case studies, and role-play exercises, students will develop a nuanced understanding of the challenges faced by primary and secondary students, families, and educators. This course aims to empower aspiring school counsellors with the expertise required to foster academic success, social-emotional well-being, and personal growth in primary and secondary students.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Apply advanced school counseling skills through experiential learning, case studies, and role-play exercises, demonstrating a practical understanding of the unique dynamics of school environments.
CILO-2: Analyse strategies for personal and professional self-evaluation in the context of school counseling, demonstrating the ability to assess and enhance one’s counseling competencies.
CILO-3: Integrate individual theories of lifespan development, reviewing and applying basic skills to understand and address the diverse needs of students at primary and secondary schools.
