Course Description
This course delves into the theories, techniques, trends, and issues central to evaluating programme quality in early childhood education and care (ECEC). Students will develop a profound understanding of what constitutes a high-quality ECEC programme and its far-reaching implications for children’s development and learning. The course will also spotlight the assessment of instruments and methods employed in ECEC programme quality rating and improvement systems. Moreover, students will actively engage in the practice of (1) conducting quality assessments of local ECEC programmes, (2) reporting evaluation results, and (3) providing constructive feedback to classroom teachers for continuous quality enhancement.
