Course Description
While many of the educational practices are considered embedded in local context, there is increasing volume of conversations on educational issues globally. This course will take students to examine a series of critical educational issues from an international and comparative lens. Students will join the discussion on topics such as: accountability movement in educational management, globalized educational standard, teacher professional development, global education development agenda such as Education For All, etc. The aim of this course is to connect students with educational development discourse globally. The instructor will help students to develop awareness and critical thoughts of on-going debate related to educational equality, efficiency, and excellence. Pre-requisite: None

CILO-1: Identify the complexity of educational practice across different countries and cultures.
CILO-2: Identify social-economic factors associated with educational practices and reforms.
CILO-3: Evaluate the pros/cons of different education comparative methods.
CILO-4: Compare an education system from a macro and a micro level.
