Course Description
This course emphasizes on application of theories in Social Sciences to education and socio-economic development. Issues of discussion include: human capital theory, equality of opportunities, modernization, dependency theory, cultural imperialism, integration of the capitalist world system, and postmodernism.

CILO-1: Appraise the aims of education and the relationship between education and social development.
CILO-2: Analyze and interpret education from the perspectives of philosophies, social functions, policy making and school operations.
CILO-3: Evaluate the impact of globalization on education.
CILO-4: Construct the concept of school effectiveness and equality in terms of opportunity, gender, and languages.
