Course Description
This is a free elective course for the concentration of science education in CCI. This course is about the concepts, theories and practice of science teacher development with the purpose of laying a foundation for students’ professional development in science teaching and academic research in the future. Topics include the learning of science teachers, science teachers’ conception of teaching and learning, pedagogical content of knowledge in science teaching, school-based research and science teacher development, action research and science teacher development, science teachers’ narratives, case studies of science teacher development, research tendency of science teacher development. Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Describe basic concepts and theories of science teacher development.
CILO-2: Apply the PCK theory to teach science.
CILO-3: Analyze academic literature about science teacher development.
