Course Description
The course offers intensive work and instruction in developing oral skills for the primary teacher trainees. The objectives aim at helping them develop an awareness of various features of accurate pronunciation and good voice quality of English and improving the articulation of English including rhythm, stress, and intonation as well as nonverbal skills such as gestures and vocal tones. Coursework includes tasks such as instructing, explaining, questioning and responding in the primary classroom.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Enhance their skills for comprehensible and effective vocal delivery, including pronunciation, grammatical accuracy, stress and intonation.
CILO-2: Use the right choice of words and phrases and appropriate techniques when they perform different speech acts required of an English teacher.
CILO-3: Analyse the functions and effectiveness of teacher language in specific classroom scenarios.
CILO-4: Practise presenting, eliciting, asking questions, giving instructions, explaining and responding in a primary English classroom.
