Course Description
This course provides student teachers with advanced study of music teaching methodologies in the general music classroom, with the main focus on applications of the internationally well-known Orff Music Method and Kodaly Music Method. Moreover, the course will cover music learning theories combined with appropriate lesson planning for the music class. Students taking this course will have a concrete understanding of how to conduct and teach a music class at the elementary level. Furthermore, different music textbooks and materials ill also be analyzed and discussed in this course.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Demonstrate fluency of singing diatonic melodies in all keys on both treble and bass clef.
CILO-2: Demonstrate fluency in both fixed do syllables and movable scale degree numbers.
CILO-3: Familiar with numbered musical notation (simplified music notation).
CILO-4: Familiar with advanced music theory, such as, chord progression, different chords and different forms of inversions.
CILO-5: Familiar with recorder playing and being able to play intermediate children songs.
CILO-6: Being able to sight-read and play medium level children songs from the major textbooks of elementary schools used and published in Macau/Hong Kong regions.
CILO-7: Familiar with the concepts and contents 'The Requirements of Basic Academic Attainments' (基本學力要求) which was published by Macao SAR (Special Administrative Region) government 2015.
CILO-8: Being able to design and create music activities and music games with the Orff and Kodaly Music Methods.
