Course Description
This is a compulsory course for the INS program. This course aims to help students study two important topics in the context of school science, science inquiry and practical work, both of which are interconnected. The concepts, principles, and methods about these two topics and relevant teaching models are introduced. In particular, the contents and forms of science inquiry and practical work included in the currently used curriculum and teaching materials in Macao and mainland China are highlighted. Opportunities are provided for students to conduct various types of practical work in science lab and learn to design hands-on activities in the view of science inquiry, enabling them to become qualified science teachers who are competent in teaching with science inquiry and practical work. The instructional strategies and methods are diversified, involving lecture, guided reading, lab work, and micro-teaching.
