Course Description
This course is intended to introduce practical strategies in teaching pre-primary pupils English as a second or foreign language through the use of various language activities such as games, songs, nursery rhymes, role plays, and story-telling. Course participants also have opportunities to learn how to design and adapt different teaching materials and resources in order to develop pre-primary pupils’ learning interest and maximize their learning outcomes in the classroom. The course also helps participants to develop their own English phonological, grammatical and lexical competence.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Adopt and adapt creative learning activities for very young learners in terms of language abilities and classroom contexts.
CILO-2: Plan and execute to very young ESL/EFL learner lesson plans.
CILO-3: Construct and actualize a conducive and explorative learning environment for young English as Second Language (ESL)/English as Foreign Language (EFL) learners.
CILO-4: Engage in critical reflection through in-depth analysis of their own and peers’ teaching of very young language learners.
CILO-5: Articulate a philosophy of teaching to very young ESL/EFL language learners.
