Course Description
The course aims at equipping students with knowledge and skills of teaching music at pre-primary level in Macao. Music theory, singing skills, and basic piano accompaniment techniques will be introduced in this course. Besides, students will learn various essential concepts of music teaching including designing lesson plan and curriculum, music and movement activities that promote the development of pre-primary students. Moreover, the world leading music methods, Orff and Kodaly music methods will also be introduced for students to develop musical creativity in the classroom. Through identifying the concepts and contents of “The Requirements of Basic Academic Attainments”(基本學力要求), which was published by Macao SAR (Special Administrative Region) government in 2015, students will be able to teach a meaningful and successful music class for pre-primary students.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Conceptualize basic music theory and demonstrate knowledge of ear training and rhythmic skills through analysis and practice.
CILO-2: Perform basic singing skills through conceptualising solfege and the tonal system.
CILO-3: Develop the skills to play basic piano melody and accompaniment for pre-primary students.
CILO-4: Choreograph body movements to various music for pre-primary students
CILO-5: Synthesize the musicianship skills to scaffold and design age-appropriate music curriculum for pre-primary students.
CILO-6: Design engaging musical activities to enhance the development of pre-primary students.
CILO-7: Synthesize the theory and attain practical knowledge of Orff and Kodaly music methods in the pre-primary classroom.
