This course is designed for FED students in the English stream and provides an introduction and foundation for the practical strand of the B. Ed. (Secondary) programme. EDUC 2019 is a continuation of the preceding course, EDUC 2018, and focuses in greater detail the core elements of the various language teaching techniques in the secondary English classroom. The course aims to help develop in students a pedagogically sound and reflective approach in their planning and decision-making about teaching English and to provide guidance and support in facilitating the development of students’ English language teaching knowledge, skills and strategies. The different sessions of the course will give students the opportunity to apply and try out some of the teaching techniques through the development of teaching plans and micro-teaching.
