Course Description
This course aims to give a systematic introduction to the main concerns in educational psychology, including human development, students’ learning, learning motivation, instruction and evaluation, and individual differences. Also, this course will emphasise the application of the related knowledge in educational settings.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Discuss the importance of educational psychology in teaching and learning.
CILO-2: Explain how students differ from one another in their cognitive, personal, social, and moral development, and how teachers can accommodate such differences.
CILO-3: Describe various views that explain teaching and learning, including behaviorist, cognitive, and constructivism views of learning.
CILO-4: Identify and explain the social-cognitive factors (e.g., self-concept, self-regulation, motivation), and how they impact students’ learning.
CILO-5: Introduce various instructional strategies (e.g., cooperative learning) and how they apply in classroom situations.
CILO-6: Compare and contrast different forms of assessments in classroom settings.
CILO-7: Illustrate how educational psychology can apply in everyday learning.
CILO-8: Gain insights into how learning, motivational, and developmental theories and psychological concepts are applied to learning and teaching and make grounded predictions.
CILO-9: Discuss and critically reflect on everyday claims about educational topics in relation to psychological concepts and research evidence.
