Course Description
This is one of the Musicianship series courses aims at developing students' mastery of foundational musical skills. With a solid and broad music foundation, such as music theory, ear training and practice of instrument skills, students are trained to become well-rounded music teachers.
The professor will help students applying the introduced music theory and rhythmic patterns in the teaching aspects so that students will have chance to start getting familiar with music teaching for the general music classroom.
Because the nature of the music course, it is suggested that students are expected to daily practice piano and assignments in order to master their keyboard competence.
Intended Learning Outcomes
CILO-1: Identify and sing diatonic melodies in major keys on both treble and bass clef.
CILO-2: Interpret and read both fixed do syllables and movable scale degree numbers.
CILO-3: Conceptualize and examine elementary level of music theory, such as, key signature, intervals, and music scales.
CILO-4: Classify and interpret all the notations on both treble and bass clef and perform elementary level children songs from the major textbooks of primary schools used and published in the Greater China region, such as, Macao, Hong Kong and mainland China.
